He also is a Google Developer Expert in Web Technologies and an international speaker, with over 15 years of professional experience developing Web user interfaces. Currently, Ben is a Senior Software Engineer at Netflix on their TV Client Foundations team, helping maintain their TV UI platform tooling (aka DivOps). He enjoys playing basketball, DIY, watching movies, and tweeting (@benmvp) / blogging (benmvp.com) about his experiences with new web technologies, especially with React & TypeScript.
50 shades of React rendering with Next.js
CSR. SSG. SSR. ISR. These similar acronyms are all different ways that we can render our React applications. But instead of supporting only one rendering method for the entire app, Next.js allows us to choose the best type for each page. This hybrid approach matches closer to the needs of our apps. In a single app, we can have a landing page with static content that only changes when the code changes, a page that is the same for all users but frequently changes, and a logged-in page that has content unique to each user. This talk is for React developers of all types. Let’s explore the types of rendering, and see how Next.js supports them to optimize pages within our apps. By the end, you’ll feel informed and confident about how the different modes of rendering work and when to use each.
